The Willow Centre is a nurturing wellbeing space designed to support new mothers as they navigate the emotional demands of early motherhood. The project responds to feelings of identity loss, burnout, isolation, and overwhelm that can occur when a mother’s own needs are pushed aside. Inspired by the unique layers of a fingerprint, the design celebrates individuality and the journey of rediscovering self. The interior uses layered spaces, soft thresholds, and a balance between welcoming communal spaces and separate private retreat areas, allowing mothers to feel both connected and protected. Natural materials inspired by the rural surroundings, including timber, clay plaster, and earthy textures, are combined with biophilic design elements such as planting, natural light, sensory walls, and views to nature. Through calming sensory spaces, child-friendly areas, and moments of privacy and connection, The Willow Centre creates a safe environment where mothers can rest, reconnect, and feel supported within a wider community.
